Energy Poverty IS a Social Justice Issue
It’s an understatement to say that the world is going a little crazy right now. The current crises of COVID-19 and the George Floyd/Black Lives Matter protests have exposed many of the ways current policy has failed black people in this country.
But, as Reaching America has been talking about for the last several years, Energy Poverty is one of the single most important economic issues disproportionately affecting people of color and vulnerable Americans.
Not only would artificially raising energy prices amplify the economic hardships many Americans are facing today, the undermining of American energy sector jobs would also take away one of the most significant keys to prosperity available to minority communities.
Will you join me in signing this coalition letter requesting that the board of one of the country’s largest investment firms reconsider its position on energy sector investments?
